This message looks at John 15:18-16:4. Highlighting Jesus's warning to his disciples about being hated by the world, advising them that they will not be alone but will have the "advocate" (Holy Spirit) with them by there side. He encourages them to remain strong in their faith regardless of the circumstances.

In what is hard teaching to receive from Jesus, we discover our difficulties and hardships will be used by God to bring fruit for the Kingdom of God. He likens it to “pruning”. What is important is for us to remain, abide, “in” Jesus. Although never easy or comfortable, it is a call to trust in him in every situation

God desires that we love Him. This we do when we walk in obedience, yet He doesn’t leave us without the help to obey, thanks to power of the Holy Spirit. 

Jesus wants his disciple’s hearts to be untroubled. He wants his followers to find their way to the Father, find intimacy with the Father, and glorify him by asking for anything in Jesus name.

This message looks at John 13:19-38.  Through Judas' betrayal and the prediction of Peters denial Jesus is setting up his disciples to go out without him, knowing his death is only hours away.  Jesus shares his love for them and gives them a new commandment- Love each other.  

The second half of John’s gospel has Jesus meeting his disciples around a meal. He knows soon he faces the cross. He has critical things to teach before his goes. The first being, to wash each other’s feet. Serving others is a critical lesson for the disciples, and for any disciple which will follow.

A message for a new year to encourage and challenge us as a church in the discipline and privilege of prayer. Starts with a discussion of Matthew 6:5-15 and includes some personal reflections and practical tools for enjoying a closer relationship with God.
